MMOs have never disappeared but they have definitely passed Cookie-Cutter RPGs. Some of the most popular as Destiny 2 have elements of RPG, but focus more strongly on the cooperative and competitive aspects of the gameplay. As massive as these worlds can be, however, some of them are always confined to the worlds of their respective platforms, even if they are actually available on several. Fate 2 finally breaks down these barriers with crossed support that has just lived well ahead of its estimated launch date.
It was actually end of last year when the developer Bungie announced a full support of play-player coming to Destiny 2. It meant that all players of all platforms will be able to play with and against others, than ‘They are on consoles, PC or streaming via Google Stadia. The initial deadline for the liberation of the functionality was at the fall of 2021 but, LO and behold, a person spilled the switch now.
Stadia source reports Stadia Players LED Destiny 2 players with usernames that would not have been allowed on stadia. They also started to see friends who were on other platforms, like Steam or Nvidia GeForce now. This is not clear how much the availability of cross play is widespread, but it’s good for players.
It is also uncertain that crossover availability was accidental or intentional. Judging by these same reports, users receive mixed results to get the work feature. Cross-platform invitations, in particular, are still missing and bypass solutions are needed to get some kind of crossed game.
